I have an ASA side charging upper with a modified JP LMOS BCG on an SBR that I just finished building. Took it to the range Friday to get a few shots in an try to zero the EOTech and I couldn't get it to cycle correctly. It would fire fine but it would jam and I would have to re-charge it every round. I tried checking online for a possible solution and all I can find is that the ASA requires a modified BCG (to work with the side charger) but I cannot see that it needed any other special pieces.

I am stumped at this point. I am going to pull it apart tonight and see if I can find any blemishes where it would be jamming but I am hoping to find some information before then.

who modified your JP LMOS bolt carrier? if you didn't notch it correctly (different than the JP side chargers), then you probably just ruined a good bolt carrier

Modified by the gunsmith who built it. It's notched perfectly so I don't see that being the issue. The BCG comes back to the point where it looks like the bolt is getting stuck. When I pull the charging handle it feels like its stuck on something but with a bit more effort it comes back, ejects and loads back in just fine. I checked the brass and it looked fine, checked the BCG and didn't see any marks on it that would lead me to believe it was getting stuck or snagged on anything.

I was shooting PMC green tip ammo, I am going to try it with some different types of ammo and see if it cycles. I haven't heard anything bad about that ammo so I wouldn't think that would be the issue but I am really not sure what's causing it.

Don't the low mass bcg require buffer tinkering too?

Is there a particular reason you went with the low mass carrier?  They can be a bit finicky and require gas/buffer tuning.
