OK, the story is really just getting started, but I've been wanting to build an AR for a long time. Circumstances fell into place and I ordered two lowers a couple weeks ago (Spikes fire/safe).
I pretty much just leaped before I looked on the first one. I knew in general I wanted to one pseudo retro (f-marked front sight, carry handle rear sight) and one as a semi-budget sniper-ish build. I decided the psuedo-retro would be a better option for the first build. After a couple days of researching full kits, I ordered a kit from Del-ton. It's a 16" flat top, mid-length with a heavy chrome-lined barrel. Not a bad deal at $490 including a Magpul gen 2 30 round PMAG. I'll post pics and a review when it comes in and I get it built. I'm gonna pick up a spikes removable carry handle for it and I've got a MI SS series floating handguard and an Ergo ambi grip on the way (hey, I said pseudo). Other than that, I have no plans to upgrade anything else on it unless there's issues. Anybody know who makes the DTI barrels? Am I gonna regret this purchase? The second one is more interesting. I want something with better long range accuracy. Originally I was looking at a RRA Predator Pursuit complete upper from AR-sales, but I've decided I want a threaded barrel. In an ideal world, I'd like to do a suppressor, but they're not legal in my state. I'll probably plan the build like it would be getting one anyway....I've heard rumors about legislation that may make that an option. Here's what I'm thinking so far. I'd love to hear your thoughts/opinions, etc. I don't want to spend money where it won't yield much benefit and I don't want to negate getting quality parts by chintzing out somewhere else. This is a first cut on key components but I'm a ways away from making and purchases on this one.
