I have finally purchased a PreBan AR. It is a Colt w/16" barrel and a 4 position stock on it. I put a cheap tasco red dot on the carry handle for now. But I need some help tricking it out. I have seen numerous pics on here of rifles and they look great. I guess I am looking for items that have the coolness factor but they still need to be usable. So I need help/suggestions on which aimpoint or other red dot sight to buy and any mounts etc. I will need. I would prefer the aimpoint to be able to be used with NV goggles (next big purchase)Probably going to want some type of rail system so I can install a front grip and possibly a flash light at some point. Can anyone give me any help and suggestions? Or any pics you would like to share. Thanks guys |

Oh fun, a preban! I'm no expert but if I had your gun, I'd start with an ARMS #51 SIR. See the following thread for more information and great pics: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=12&t=152453 Next, I would add an Aimpoint M2 (night vision compatible) in an ARMS #22M68 mount (no spacer required for cowitness). Finally, I would add a Surefire M900A light/foregrip system to complete the project. This would be a totally kickass setup as far as I'm concerned and assuming that money is no object. The only way this could be any better would be if it was a flattop and you would use a different SIR and a BUIS at that point but I don't think you'll be disappointed. Good Luck! Drivie |

Quoted: Quoted: BTT-Anyone else want to put in their .02 Thanks Yeah, how 'bout shooting it and finding out what you need and want on it? You may find that you don't want to add anything else on it. I have shot it and shoots fine. If you read the post again you will see that I was asking questions on aimpoints, mounts etc. Asking for help from people who already have their weapons completed. |
| If I was putting together a new rifle and had the cash to outfit it the way I wanted it, the set up described previously by Drivie would be very close to what I would do. In fact, that is what I have on my "go to" rifle with the exception of the optic mount; I am using a GG&G contelever mount. |
