I have a new Bushy AR 15 20 inch.  I zeroed it in at 25 yards as instructed in the book accompanying it, and easily shooting less than one inch groups.  However, at the 100 yard range it was a differience story.  At the 6 inch round black target I could only get a few shots in the black, and groups (if you can call them that) were really everywhere.  Some low, some high.  Windige appeard fine. I was using 55 grain SA ammo. Fired a total of 300 rounds. I tell you, that little target at 100 yards was damned hard to see without a scope. Is it me or the rifle? Maybe I should get a larger target or a scope!

Sonyboy,
Next time you are at the range see if someone else will shoot a group or two for ya.
That will eliminate you as a variable.

The std. front sight ain't the greatest for shooting groups or bullseye work.
It's too thick, and the sight picture at times looks like you are balancing a BB on the end of a 2X4..

The sight was designed with combat and speed of aquisition in mind and the trade off was some precision.

Mounting a scope will eliminate most of the issues, and let the rifle shoot up to it's accuracy potential.
But there is more to it still.
Placement of the front rest on the forearm consistency of returning to the same place on the bag, cheek weld and all that.

If you wish to stay with irons, have a gander at the many match front sights offered by Brownells
and pick one.It makes it a bit easier.

Hope this helps.
Best of luck to ya!

Did you remember to flip to the smaller aperture rear sight?

I did that the other day, moved from less than 20 yards to about 150....shots all over the place...then I remembered. LOL

DOH!!!!!

Thanks.  Will do. I really do not see how it could be the rifle other than the sights.

I shot expert with the M-16 in the Army and carried that weapon in Vietnam 1970 to 1971. I was a much better shot as an 18 year old. Of course that was at the enemy and full size silouettes (25 meters to 300 meters), which are mucho bigger than a 6 inch target.  Also, I do not see how in the hell I cleaned that thing in a minute or so in the dark back then.  Damn near took me an hour last night.

Frankley, now I shoot better with my 686 Smith pistol.
