I'll start by saying that I am not a great shot by any means, but I consider my self pretty good with a rifle. The above pic shows about a 1.25" group of 8 rounds of Silver state armory 5.56mm 77gr on the left (the lower left shot is due to me jerking the trigger) and about a 4" group of 10 rounds of privi .223 62gr ammo on the right. It baffles me that the SSA groups so well, and the privi does so bad. I'm guessing this is just a case of my rifle not liking the privi? Is there any other explanation to this huge variance in groupings? I also have noticed that groups open up through out the range session with the privi, but the ssa will shoot the same size groups at any point during the day. I can clean the rifle and resume firing and the privi groups will shrink back down to the original size. Is there any explanation for this other than shooter error? I am very confident in my rifle when using the 77gr ssa, but the 62gr privi really makes me wonder, is there something that I am overlookig that explains these issues? Shooter error? Rifle: Colt 6920, DD omega rail, TA31F acog and all else is stock ETA: 100 yard targets, and the zero never shifts |

The SSA load uses an open-tip match bullet, the Sierra MatchKing. The Prvi load uses a garbage FMJ bullet. The smallest group that I was able to obtain shooting from a benchrest using the 62 grain Prvi load was 3.18".

I'm going to have to ban you if you keep making me look stupid like that.   |

Prvi also makes a standard 62gr fmj load. I haven't shot any Prvi M855, but my experience with their M193 has had the same results as yours. Much more accurate than the LC. I think I had one hard primer but I just went into immediate action and never looked at the round. |

This is not the m855 loading from privi, just the 62gr fmj .223. I have also had great results with the privi m193, which is what prompted me to buy this 62gr stuff. I am not very pleased with the 62gr loading so I am gonna be searching for a new 62gr plinking round.
Does any one have any recommendations for a good 62gr plinking round? I am interested in the new production IMI m855 on the market but I'm not sure it will have any better accuracy. I plan to keep shooting the 77gr SSA, but I need something cheaper to practice with. |
