Is there a Govt. spec. for M-16a1 or M-16a2 accuracy with iron sights.

I am trying to size up just how bad I realy am.

IIRC, it's  4-6 MOA or 4"-6" at 100 meters.

M-16A2 with M-193 ammo will group around 2 to 3 MOA (if you do your part, and the rifle is relatively new).   The A-1 will group around the same.  Q3131A ammo will generally group a little tighter, but that all just depends on how well the rifle likes each of the ammo types. M-193 moves about 100 FPS faster than Q3131A.

Note: Very few of the standard issued M-16 rifles will group in the less than 1.5” MOA.
If you can hold a 3” group at 100 yards for ten shots with a standard issue rifle, your doing your part.

The applicable milspec covers accuracy.

Marksmanship wise if you can hold sub 4CM at 25M you're within Army standards.
