REFER TO....http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=126&t=496491

I purchased this S&W when they hit the shelf ..I guess about 2 years ago & started adding accessories & have not even chambered a round in it yet. It has the Troy Rail's & I want to add the Adam's retro Fix... Short Stroke Gas Piston System. Question: Will the kit fit under my Troy Rail's without modification? I don't intend on zeroing it in untill I add the Gas System. I know someone on this forum has my answer :)

I did remove the verticle grip, I used it on several of my other AR's & I prefer to hold onto the 30 rd. mag.

No as the AA Kit requires its own gas block, You could replace your rail with a daniel defense or a Samson that has the cut out for the FSB if you desire to have it set up that way.  If not the AA kit will not work for your troy rail.

Is the gas block the only problem? If so I can trim the handguard (SHORTEN) so the gas block set's in front outside the handguard. So will all the other part's of the gas kit fit under my handguard?

They apparently should from Adams FAQ section info saying the rail is simply too long, but you may want to check with Adams directly. I think you would be better off either selling the Troy handguard and turning over the money on another rail that is sure to fit or even selling the upper itself and turning it over on a new Adams railed upper with you keeping the lower since it's the actual serialized part in your name. Weighing the costs of course to which would be the best route for you.

Wise ass comments like this most people can do without them. Respect the guy to do what he wants with his purchase.
