How is the workmanship and quality if I have Adco turn down a barrel from HBAR to .625"?  I currently have a DTI 16" HBAR that, if I have it turned down, would be the style I want my current build to be and about $400 cheaper than if I bought the component separate.

I never used ADCO, but if you did a search on just ADCO you would find 1000's of posts vouching for the excellent work they do.

a DTI lightweight 16" barrel is $154 brand new...

it's going to cost you $95 to reprofile it and $90 to install a .625" FSB, $185 total

Absolutely superb. I am one of many here who has sent them a heavy SOB barrel to be re-contoured, and am VERY satisfied with the results. They made it the exact dimensions i asked for, there are no odd marks/other flaws, and the finish was smoother than it was from the factory. I can't find anything bad at all to say about the work they did on it.

They usually have a very fast turnaround time, too. Sometimes people get their stuff back a week after having shipped it to ADCO.

That's nice.
What is the total weight?
Did adco say anything about the profile and safety?

I have often wondered about the safety of pencil barrels myself.  On a regular M4 contoured barrel, there are a couple very small OD sections...I guess if those survive then the whole barrel could survive...I guess...  Also consider that the highest stress area is right beyond the chamber, with decreasing pressure as the round goes down the pipe.

4.775 with empty mag, AFG2, panels & sights.  It's a .22 so ADCO said .485 was the min.

ADCO is awesome, but for the life of me I can’t understand why you just wouldn’t buy a new quality barrel with the desired profile for less than its going to cost to re-profile your existing barrel.

+ 1000 for ADCO's workmanship quality and customer service. I HIGHLY reccommend heading over to the industry forum and looking up ADCO and follow their short tutorial for ordering and shipping.

I've done almost the exact same thing done that you're wanting. 16" HBAR turned to .625 (which if you order their "lightweight profile" that's what you'll get) But I left my FSB at .750

Matter of fact, I'd go as far to say that ADCO's machine work is better than Bushmaster's or Colts. As my two ADCO barrels have NO evidence of feed lines in them. My factory Bushy and Colt barrels do!

Here's a crappy cell phone pic.

The crush washers on your muzzle...I've seen them installed the opposite way too.  Which way is correct, or does it not matter?  Your way looks better, the taper flows naturally.

I've bought parts and barrels from ADCO as well as had them do custom work.  All the work I've had them do was something that's not readily available already.  They have excellent turn around times and the quality is top notch.  They're definitely a function before form type of shop.  Their form is still pretty damned good, just don't expect artistry.  But then you're not paying the price or waiting the time that functional art would take.
