Looking at the front sight gas block the sight post appears to rotate and has marks 90 degrees and a small detent it looks simple enough but I'm an idiot and can't figure it out. I don't want to scratch it with needle nose pliers does it take a special tool to rotate it???? THX

If you're trying to move the sight post up and down, with small philip screw driver or some like it, push the detent down and rotate it.

I use the very small flat tip blade on a gerber tool to move mine but a bullet tip works as well. Push the detent in and rotate...

Just use a bullet tip - that is what they were designed around.  If you want the tool - they make a sight adjust ment tool to make it easier.  I have them, but never use them.

WTH. you're probably only going to adjust the thing once. A FMJ bullet works just fine, and if you do slip and put a mark on the area, a solvent soaked Q Tip will remove the  "scratch"
