| So, I just finished rifle #2 with a 14.5" BCM lightweight middy with pinned A2X and love it. Now I've decided to SBR the lower and have been thinking about going with a 12.5" BCM Kino. My question is should I sell my current BCM upper to get the Kino or wait until I have the disposable funds? |

I've done it. One thing to consider is, depending on what can and mount you go with the barrel on the Kino may need some work as well since they don't have the usual step before the threads. There is at least one member here who had to mill the barrel down some so his Halo would work. This was a couple of years ago so BCM might have changed it. I have one of the original Kino's and it doesn't have the step or whatever it's called. |

Clhaar: I didn't know that about the Kino, thanks for the heads up. I don't have any idea what suppressor to go with yet, I just know I want a 30 cal can that will work with 5.56 and 308 (300 blk). I've got a lot of research to do that's for sure. No problem. I don't think it's a huge issue as I think most of the QD style cans work just fine. You might want to check out Designated Hitter for a Kino build as well since Kino Davis is the owner, and well, he invented the Kino configuration. He did state today that he is taking a break and not taking orders right now. Since you want a 30cal can that will mount on multiple platforms I would look at the Surefire SOCOM's. The 30cal cans will mount on their 5.56 muzzle devices. I've done the math though and it is possible to get both a dedicated 5.56 and 30cal can from other manufacturers for the price of a Surefire. Though decision.

Seriously though, that is VERY light for a quad. I toyed with the idea of a MK18 upper but after holding one I realized how heavy they are. Maybe I just need to get on the juice and hit the gym. You should feel how heavy my standard 12.5 is with Larue rail, VFG, SF light and suppressor mount. I've had several guys comment on how heavy it was. I've carried that damn thing for miles and miles and days on end. Puts hair on your chest. |
