I have an older Bushmaster A2 AR15. I am trying to change the receiver from the carry handle type to a flat top. I removed the barrel and cleaned everything but reassembly is not going well. The gas port hole in the barrel nut is at the bottom when the barrel is torqued. I am installing an Aero Precision upper in place of the old carrier handle upper. What am I doing wrong?

You just twist the delta ring, spring and snap ring around to the top. All those parts are free to rotate around the barrel nut. Flat blade screwdriver will probably be needed to push on the snap ring to get it to turn due to the amount of friction on it.

Affirm...simply spin the delta ring around until it lines up.

Thank you very much. I've been shooting a long time but this is the first time I've tried modifying a stock firearm.
