Following a gourmet dinner of Antelope steaks, pork loin, red potatoes & green beans my pal Dave assembled his 2nd AR15.  The first was a 20" target/varmint rig back in December.  He bought two stripped lowers from RB Precision on my recommendation before the prices went up. This time he chose a 16" carbine with adjustable stock.

We followed the sacred guide contained at the top of the forum & it went together flawlessly.  Not one spring or detent was launched.

We used a Superior lower, DPMS lower parts kit, a lightly used 16" upper from EE & a retractable stock purchased at a local gunshow.

The mag catch then bolt catch were in place in just a minute.

Trigger & pin went in quickly.

The hammer pin a was bit testy but with a tap from a hammer it slide into place.

The grip & safety detent required a couple tries then we once again realized the Superior lower has an over travel adjustment set screw that needs to be screwed in before the grip will fit into place.

Add the retractable stock.

Slap the upper on and function test for safe operation.

Last step was to step out to the back yard range and take it for a test drive.

A slight adjustment was needed to bring the holes down to the center of the 50yd target.  The cabine functioned properly without a failure.

Dave does not look impressed with you photography towards the end there...

PKF shipment in the background, give me a bit and I can probably pull your address off it too

Edit: Almost forgot, looks good.

The carbine looks good.  Dave looks a little ticked off, though.    Where's his vision protection when shooting?  Does Dave think ARs never kaboom (especially new builds from used EE parts)?  Buy that man some safety glasses!

Nice lookin' kar-bean.

(But, to be honest...I'm MUCH more jealous of the fact You can step out back and blast away without a massive effort to take a road trip to test it.)

Dave's "not impressed look" pic was snapped as he was in mid sentence as he was asking about the proper trigger discipline/ARFCOM etiquet.  He settled for two in the pink & one in the stink

Ol' Chief your in MONTANA!  For GOD'S sake I've been there often & would love to relocate to SE MT.  Surely you can find a place in that paradise to cut loose with a few rounds without the neighbors getting their panties in a wad.  Heck, my little 40ac hunk of dirt here in Michigan allows me that "luxury" occationally.

Hahah I fought for about 10min trying to get the grip on until I realized I had to turn in that damn screw...tell ya what, though, those Superior lowers have hair triggers with that adjustment screw all the way in...
