After you assemble your AR and before you shoot it for the first time what areas should you lubricate? And is there anything else you should do before firing it for the first time?

The procedure is about the same for any new gun.

First, field strip the gun per the owner's manual.  This includes stripping the bolt and carrier assembly on the AR.

Thoroughly wipe out the bore and chamber to insure there's no factory oil or grease in it.
Sit down and give the gun a thorough inspection.  You're looking for anything that doesn't look "right".
As example, parts that are damaged in any way, (cracks, chips, deformed, burred, improperly assembled etc).
Look for factory or shipping debris like metal chips, packing material, parts that came loose, etc.

Wipe off the factory lubricant, which is often dirty.
Re-lubricate the gun with whatever lube you like.

At the range load the gun with one round and fire it.  Examine the case for any signs something is wrong, and examine the gun for problems.
Load two rounds and fire to check for proper operation.  (Doubling, or full auto burst).
Load a full magazine and fire it slow fire, watching for any problems.

Once home from the range, field strip again and look for any problems BEFORE you clean it, then inspect carefully again AFTER you clean it.

Here's some owner's manuals, both commercial and USGI:
