Ok,  I have no NV equipment so consider me a noob in that department.  I just bought an Aimpoint ACO, which is advertised as not being NV compatible.   In comparison,  I've found that there are at least three settings that are as dim or more dim than the single NV setting on a Vortex SPARC.   Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks!

Yes, through night vision you can see those first 3 settings.

Except in certain colors, true night vision capability is not visible to the naked eye.  What you are seeing is just a very dim setting.  It would probably show up well to the naked eye at night, especially once your eyes adjusted to the dark, but could not reliably be used with NVGs as the settings would be too bright in many low light conditions.

Same goes for the Vortex.  It is just a "dimmer" setting.  Probably to be used when there is little light available.  But it has nothing to do with true night vision devices.  Just your "night vision."  It's called bullshitting the masses, or marketing.

Good job wasting your money on that ACO when you could have gotten a PRO for just a few bucks more.  Total ripoff that ACO is.

I don't consider $325 shipped a bad deal when $390 is about the best price I could find on the PRO.

Keep an eye out on Midway.  They constantly have sales that brings the price down to less than $370 shipped.  You can also sign up for e-mail notifications at opticsplanet and they frequently have coupons.  I didn't have any spare money so I cancelled my e-mail subscriptions to opticsplanet, and they sent me an e-mail for 12% off I re-established my e-mail notifications.

Even at $325, the ACO is a ripoff.  It should be about a $250 optic at best.  No NVG settings, crappier mount than the PRO, crappier battery life, and no covers makes it a ripoff.  I am sure it will do the job for most people, but it is way to expensive when you could routinely, up until recently, find PROs for $340 to $360 shipped.  They have only raised the price on the PROs to push the cheaper ACO on the market.

Every time we give in and pay more for less, they are going to continue giving us less.  That is why most of everything we buy these days is shit, and cost more than ever.
