Anyone have experience with the Aimpoint CompC3? I know most people go with the CompM# series, but I just saw a deal for a CompC3 with a ring, rubber cover, and flip up lens covers for $400, and it's tempting.
It's the last item on the page at http://swfa.com/Aimpoint-CompC3-Red-Dot-Sights-C8.aspx. I looked over the specs at aimpoint.com, and the only differences I saw between the ML3 and C3 were temperature range (-20 to 140 vs -50 to 160), water depth (15 feet vs 100+ feet), and the lens coating. I'm not really worried about the temperature or water, but does anyone know details on the coating difference? Primary use for this is plinking (min 25 yards; max 300 yards; generally 25-50 yards); secondary use of home defense. It may also get used for (under 65 yards) "action shooting" events. Does anyone know how reliable SWFA is to order from? Any idea what typical delivery times are? |
| I agree with the above poster. I have several M2s, an ML3 and a C3 and can really tell no difference in any of them. If you are not using night vision then don't worry about it. Unless you are playing Navy Seal I wouldn't worry about the dept rating either. The C series Aimpoints are a great value and will serve any purpose you need it to. |

Weaponparts.com has the C3 2MOA in stock for $360, but it only includes the low mount, I think (no lens covers or body cover). They also have the ML3 2MOA for $421 (which comes with the covers), but it's currently out of stock. If you want an ML3 for only $21 more than the C3, you could contact Weaponparts for an ETA. They seem like a good bunch to do business with. I ordered a CMT bolt carrier group and a CompM4s from them and they shipped both orders within 24 hours. http://weaponparts.storesecured.com/items/mounts-optics-sights~scopes/aimpoint/list.htm |

I just bought my second one from SWFA. Great company to deal with, lightning fast shipping.
Get the kit with it, you get a rubber coat, flip up lens covers, tiny bikini all free! IMHO the C3 is the best way for us "non-operator" (wink, wink, nudge, nudge |
