I just got my first Aimpoint sight. It's a CompM3 2MOA. If I turn up the brightness, more than a click or two above where I can just see it, the dot is very ragged (not round or crisp edge). Is that normal?? |

I'm a Navy pilot, my vision is fine. The "dot" is an asymetrical collection of fine red lines, like a pile of pick-up-sticks. The lines adjust in brightness but remain in the same relative position and are distinctly a bunch of searate lines NOT a single dot. Do they all look like this or do I need to call Aimpoint? (It's right out of the box and I haven't even sighted it in) |

Unless there is a severe malfunction in the device, all Aimpoints give that impression untill mounted. I have an ML2 that I have used on duty for 2-years, and I just picked up an M-3. After you *mount the optic, look threw it as though you were taking aim at a target. Your eye will pull the target and background into focus and that will clean-up the dot. Best to set it at 1-click above the point where you can barely see the dot. When I first took mine out of the box I freek'd, as the dot looked like a blob. |
