| Anybody use both optics and what did you preferr? I'm looking for inside 100yd. |
|
I have used both but on an AR, I strongly prefer the M4s. The only advantage the T-1 has is weight and that advantage gets really over stated around here IMO seeing how the difference is only 6oz. I'll gladly trade those 6oz's for the larger tube and AA battery setup of the M4s but YMMV?
In truth, there is no "right" answer here. They are both are great optics with many fans of both and in the end it just comes down to personal preference. |

You don't "have to" co-witness with either but it's an option with both.
I know with the M4s, the QRP2 mount it comes with will give you and absolute co-witness or you have your option of 2 different LaRue mounts. The LT-659 which will give you lower 1/3 co-witness (LT-659) or the LT-659NV which will give you an absolute co-witness. The standard LaRue mount for the T-1 will give you a lower 1/3 co-witness but I believe LaRue just came out with a new, absolute co-witness T-1 mount? |

Shooting with both eyes open and a decent hold on the AR...there the M4S has no advantage over the T1/H1. Only thing remotely debatable by my account is the option for a 2MOA...if that matters. I prefer the 4 myself.
I guess one could trade punches over the percieved merits of a larger tube....but that's akin to arguing over which Aimpoint has better battery life. Get what you want, but there is a reason you see the micro's on so many AR15's. I haven't seen many proclamations to the contrary. Nothing wrong whatsoever with a full sized Aimpoint mind you....nothing at all. As stated above, it's preference. I just think most prefer the most lightweight, compact, simply set up for their AR's. That tends to lean one's selection to the micro. YMMV.

No proof, links or any of that. Just my speculation. But the M4 seems it would be tougher to extreme physical abuse. It is also military approved combat sight.
T1 is tough, but I would guess the switch on the side is a weak point of the whole system, particularly to a very hard angled impact. The M4's lens, elevation and windage, battery pack and all that are in shielded positions. For the record, I have a T1. |

I've had 3 T1's, tried my best to like them better but just couldnt do it. I used all the T1's to do trades on the M4s. I like the larger fov for unconventional positions as well as the 2 moa. Worked better for me. ymmv. |

My selection is based purely on performance, and it's usually the M4S that comes out on top.
But on my M-92 Krinkov, the T-1 scores higher. And it's not just a little better, but significantly better. It's the perfect optic for the SBR AK. And it doesn't matter whether it's up front on the handguard, or over the receiver cover. On my 10.5" suppressed LMT MRP, the M4S rules the day, I can shoot faster and more accurately with it. I strongly urge shooters to try both, on each of their platforms, the results may surprise you. I really worked hard to make the T-1 work on the Arsenal A1R AK. But when I switched to the M2, bam bam, all was natural again. My A2 11.5" suppressed SBR was tried with probably a record number of RDS setups. Carry handle, handguards, T-1, RMR, M4S, M3, I shot them all. And ended up with a T-1 on a ADM Cas-V mount, on the SIR handguard just in front of the carry handle. I really expected a full size to run best on this gun, after all it's a 11.5" 1/7 HBAR with a heavy suppressor hung off the end, but nope, T-1 all the way! |

I too found the T-1 was majorly superior to the larger Aimpoints on the AK platform. A friend of mine has a Beretta CX4 with an H1 and I found that optic perfect for that platform too. Just like no one gun is right for every shooter in every situation, no scope is perfect or best for all. |
