I have the opportunity to buy both.  The Aimpoint Comp M is $225 and its been used, but still works great.  Or I can get a Vortex Strikefire, brand new for $115.  I have actually fired my rifle with the Aimpoint and it shoots good, I just wish the dot was a little brighter and the battery lasted longer.  What would you do?

Go in between and get a Vortex SPARC. Better warranty than the Aimpoint. Better warranty than Strikefire. Way better sight than the Strikefire. SPARC can be bought new for around $200 or used for $150-$175

Seriously? An Aimpoint Comp M has poor battery life?

It's the original Comp M built in 1999.  The battery life isn't nearly the same as the newer ones.

I'd go with the StrikeFire for now, save up and buy a newer model Aimpoint or PRO later down the road.

Save a little longer and get an Aimpoint PRO.  Maybe cut out the Starbucks or something else for a few months.

PSA regularly has them on sale for $375.  You won't regret it.  A quality optic is not where you want to skimp.

For the record, I had the same predicament as yourself I ended up getting an Aimpoint M3 with LaRue M68 CCO QD mount on the EE for $400.  I am extremely happy with the decision.  I was originally going to get a Primary Arms micro for ~$100, glad I saved up a little more for the Aimpoint.

ETA: Comp M from 1999 for $225 or BRAND NEW PRO for ~$375?  $150 difference for a huge upgrade.  Not much to think about IMO.

What is the difference in warranty from the SPARC vs. Strikefire?

No difference. Lifetime warranty. For as long as Vortex remains in business ... you will have a fully functional Vortex product. I think you would be hard pressed to find a bad review with regard to Vortex customer service/warranty.

I asked because i own two strikefires, and Vortex has been outstanding with helping me.  I didn't think there was any difference in coverage specified by them.   I highly recommend them to anyone.

I have a Comp M that is about 12 years old. Still works fine and I have changed the battery about three or four times.
