I can get a Comp XD for $189.  Is this a good deal, is it worth it?  I don't know much about this model.  Or should I spend the extra $$ and go for a M2 or ML2?  I have a XM15 A2 shorty.  I assume either of these will mount ontop easily.  Please help

I assume the sight you are talking about is a Comp M-XD or ML-XD.  Those are the previous generation Aimpoint that won the US  Army trial for the close combat optic. I have tow of them.  They are excellent optics, especially at 190 dollars.  it can be a good buy if the optic is in good condition.  You will need a mount for it, Aimpint gooseneck mount and rail grabber will run you about 180-200 dollars.

Hope this helps.

What will I need to mount eith the XD or a M2 onto my A2 upper if I just want it to sit on top of my handle?  I won't need the gooseneck unless I want to mount it farward of the handle would I??

i agree with chen, that's a good price.  i was thinking of selling an M in almost new condition but definitely not that low (i'm too much of a cheapskate to lose that much on it, so i'd rather keep it :-P ) the aimpoint rail grabber is more around $80, but it's for flat tops, not A2 handles.
if you're mounting it directly to your A2 handle, , not a flattop, all you need is a standard scope mount to fit your handle like the ARMS #2.  the aimpoint comes with a scope ring that will attach it to the scope mount.

cheers,
MM

two options for mounting the Aimpoint,

ARMS makes a Aimpoint mouunt for the carrying handle, mounts right to the handle and can be released via the thumb screw. good choice and low price at 70 dollars from Fulton Armory

Or you can go with a large selection of gooseneck mount available from Calvery Arms, Precision Reflex, ARMS and BC CAM.  they range from 60-200 dollars depends on the company, features, and quality.

I recommend the factory Aimpoint setup you can get from SWFA.  it will run about 140 dollars.

Thanks guys for all the help.  Now I am looking at the EOTech group order and might go that away.  I'll let you know what I decide...actually I'll probably just ask more questions.  :)
