| I'm looking for an Aimpoint T-1, and I see deals from time to time that seem like a good deal, but maybe too good. How do I know if the deal is for a new from factory unit, or a repurchase from someplace else and (maybe) reconditioned? Do the new ones ship with factory mounts? |

I would purchase from a reputable store or member if you have any doubts. Verification of the serial number would also give you a measure of protection if you are worried about purchasing from an individual. As for the factory mount, the consumer version of the T1 comes with a mount in retail packaging. However, just because it doesn't come with a mount (which most people discard) does not mean the T1 is not authentic. They can be supplied new without the mount to cut costs.
There is a tremendous markup to civilians for optics, especially the upper shelf brands such as Aimpoint. A lot of the deals you may see are reflective of that markup. I bet we wouldn't think these deals were so spectacular if we knew the true cost of the optics. |
