Is the 2X front part of the sight just screwed into a regular M2 like a kilflash? As in you could remove it and have a regular M2

No, it's fixed.

But I can run mine with the front flap down, right eye see dot, left eyes fills in the view, for 1x.

The 2x is about half the fov of a regular mag scope, which bugs some, but I see find around it.

Since its magnified, does that create any eye relief issues, or is that negated by the magnifier being on the front?

View is clear from 2" away to nose-at-butt stock, but fov shrinks from '2 paper towel rolls wide' to 1 wide as the eye moves from 2" to butt stock in my basement. I did not try closer than 2".

It drove it's original owner nuts, but I find a good bargain compromise to buying the aim and the magnifier rig.
