I am in the market for an optical sight for a DSA SA58 Carbine I just picked up.  Got it off the used rack at a local shop.  It came with the DSA HD scope mount and the quad rail HG.  I'll probably dump the scope mount because it adds over 1/2 lb to the rifle but leave the quad rail for a forward mounted opitc.
What is the difference between the M/ML2 and the M/ML3 series sights?  I've an EO Tech on my M4gery and I like it but I am thinking about going with an Aimpoint because the EO Tech looks pretty clunky sitting out on the quad rail.
Thanks

Generally, M3s have a longer battery life and are available with a 2MOA dot. I have an M3 and like it. BSW

The only difference is that you can get the M3/ML3 with a 2MOA dot. People will argue with this but the M2 has just as much battery life as the M3. The only difference in the M3 4MOA and an M2 is the writing on the side of the sight.

The M2 was out approx 5 years before the M3 or roughly 50,000 hours on the 7th setting before the M3. I was at the plant in Sweden when one of the engineers told me that they had just discovered that the M2 would run for 50,000 hours on the 7th setting.
