I have a CompM2 aimpoint on the QRP mount and I keep taking the thing off and just using irons due to weight of the set up.  I was wondering if a mount like Larue's for example is significantly lighter.  I don't have the money right now for a H-1 or T-1, but I keep finding things to throw on this gun and it just keeps gaining weight.

If your having a issue with the weight of the QRP.... you have bigger issues in my opinion.....you should down load the 30 rd mag to 10 and be fine....

What other crap do you already have on this rifle???

what is the barrel profile??

Weight it and post that weight

and change your screen name.. cause Obviously the "Big" in BigMat is not about your ability to handle a 8 lb weapon....

An Aimpoint is worth the weight. What do you "keep finding to throw on it"? Light, sling, optic.

Aw man!  You missed it, I was using you guys to convince me it was rational to buy a new mount I wanted, and now I have to man up instead of shopping my way outa this problem!

I know this is stupid, I have a BCM middie with plastic hand-guards on it.  The catch is my last rifle was a Tacti-crap king (weighed more than my Garand) and I wanted a light weight rifle this time, so every ounce is the end of the world.
