| Hi all, just joined after reading forum for a few days... I was wondering why the Aimpoint PRO is only for sale to LE and Military only. Any ideas? I'm a Merchant Marine officer and would like to be included in this criterion but not sure how to ask for inclusion. Thks |

Thks but I'd rather buy from a store and do it legit. I prefer to deal with a verified seller/store. I never buy from individules over the internet, no offence intended. None taken. Especially with all of the clone\fake ones out there. A little more web searching you can find a company that will sell you a pro. |

LaRue Tactical has the PRO with your choice of mount available from 499 and up.

| Palmetto asks that you be honest and not order it unless your LEO or MIL but they state they dont require any documentation...if you ask me its smart markerting..say its restricted and dont restrict the sale and people will want it.Its a great price but I took the plunge 2 months ago with the M4S with larue mount..the want for a common batterie power source was too great to resist. |

There is not a single law in existence that says that the average individual has to pay federal income tax yet millions of people go WAY out of their way to do it every year. I suppose you just have to have an intellect at least a fragment above the sheepish majority to realize that you DO NOT have to be a cop to buy a red dot

Aimpoint does it. Larue does it. Lots of companies do it. It's perfectly legal. |

Just ordered one from PSA for $410.00 (no tax or shipping charges) and they never even asked the question about my Military, LE or Contractor status. There is a disclaimer on the bottom of the order page that asks that you be honest but nothing would stop you from obtaining one if you want it.
I also checked Aimpoints website and while there has been tons of talk (even by Aimpoint reps at SHOT show) there is nothing on the Aimpoint PRproduct page e that specifically says "For MILITARY/LE only". The product page says that the PRO was designed for Law Enforcement, but that statement is vague... I mean how many of us have items on our guns that were DESIGNED for the Military. The dam 5.56mm cartrige was DESIGNED for military (doesnt mean that a few million of us arent using it). In any event, I'm an employee of a Security firm and part of my job involves procuring electronics for the company so my conscious is clear. BUT if I wasnt, and I wanted one it wouldnt be an issue. I think this is all clever marketing by Aimpoint... We all want what we arent supposed to have! |
| Just a guess, but I bet those things are flying off the shelves. Aimpoint most likely had tons of parts for the M2 and M3 left over and needed a way to quickly disperse the inventory before retooling all of their machinery for M4 production. Since everyone now wants the M4 (or M4s) and Aimpoint has military contracts to fullfil, they needed a way to make the older inventory(body style) more appealing and to quickly sell it off. I'm betting the Aimpoint PRO is discontinued in a year or so.. OR they raise the price and actually do make it LE only. Let's face it, the military isnt really buying it because the Army has a contract for the Comp M4. Why would the military all of a sudden want to buy something with inferrior battery life. The US govt certainly isnt worried about the cost now are they!?! |

I recieved my Aimpoint Pro from Palmetto State Armory yesterday (it only took 3 days to arrive) and I headed to the range this afternoon. The Aimpoint mounts quite easily using the QRP2 mount supplied (3 clicks and your done) and cowitnessed my hard sights (F marked front and MBUS rear). Sighting in, I lined up the Aimpoint with my hard sights and was within 2 inches at 50 meters. I set my elevation for 50 meters and then zeroed my windage at 100 meters. I had initially set my brightness to setting 7 and left it on as that is SOP for this optic. As the sun set and I was shooting at 100 meters, I lowered my brightness which made the 2 MOA dot seem even smaller (FYI... if you crank it all the way up and it looks like its 4 MOA). I was able to put 20 rounds of XM193 ammo in a 2" group at 100 meters with little effort.
This optic lives up to expectations and preforms as advertised. The clear rear scope cover allows you to use the optic in an emergency situation without opening the scope covers (very cool how your brain compensates for that front cover being closed). Anyway... I am extremely satisfied with this optic and feel that it cant be beat for $410.00 (delivered). |
