I noticed sometimes when I look through my new Aimpoint PRO that the dot isn't always a perfect circle. Sometimes the dot seems to look more like a lower case letter "i", an explanation point (!) or even two dots (:) right on top of each other then a circle. Then other times it looks like a perfect circle. Have you noticed anything like this with your Aimpoint PRO optic's?
Thanks, New York Hunter. |

Take a picture of the dot, if it looks more or less perfectly round, then its you. If it it looks the same, its the Aimpoint.
ETA: I notice that my aimpoint dot tends to look imperfect if I stare at it directly, even though I don't have astigmatism. If you look pass the dot and focus on the target only, it should look fine if your eyes are normal. |

I had both my wife and son (11) look through it and it looks the same to them.
Also, the dot doesn't show up when I turn it on until about the 5th click. Then when it's turned all the way up the dot is very bright and the whole outer circle of the optic is also bright. The whole thing seems to light up. Thanks, NYH. |
| The first 4 settings are for night vision, so you can't see them with the naked eye. The highest setting is for use in direct sunlight only, so seeing glare indoors is normal. Actually go shooting with it on a bright sunny day and it you won't see any glare inside the tube. |

Simple test for you: Look at the dot. Does it look "irregular"? Okay, now pop up your flip up sights, and look through the rear aperture at the dot. Does it look round now? If so, you just discovered that you have some astigmitism. As for what you wrote above, that's perfectly normal as well for aimpoints. |

I don't have a rear iron sight on it yet. I'm going to order a "A2" rear sight that mounts right behind my Aimpoint and will always be there/up ready to go. Just my preference. Will an EOTech dot do the same thing the Aimpoint dot does? Thanks, NYH. It will if your problem is astigmatism. |

| Another idea here. Turn the brightness down. I like shooting mine just two clicks above when I first see the dot. This makes it easy to pick up, but not too bright. Turn it up too bright for the ambient lighting conditions and the crispness of the dot goes to shit. Otherwise, yeah, astigmatism. |
