ok, think i need an aimpoint ML2

want to put it on a 16" or 20" bushmaster a3

questions being:

what rings and risers and grabbers and such do i need to mount this thing?

will the front site get in the way?

where would i get these?  thinking of buying the aimpoint from tapco

think this would be the best option for hog hunting so im gonna move on it pretty quick, any help is appreciated

You can't go wrong with ARMS products.  I would go for a 22M68 ring with a full riser.  This will put your dot over your front sight.  Pick up an ARMS #40 BUIS to go with it.  Also, I haven't tried one, but some of the guys recomend a GGG Aimpoint mount.  I do have a GGG A2 BUIS and it is very good quality.

I went with KAC products, KAC Offset mount and 600m BUIS.

The frong sight is there, but isn't in the way.  The dot moves with you so you can have the dot anywhere in the circle.  Also when you becime comfortable shooting with both eyes open, you can actually use the Aimpoint with the front cover down.

One question though, Tapco is selling Aimpoints now?

Think he meant 'Pro'point from Tasco not 'Aim'point. Big difference  ;)

Tex, are you absolutely, swear-on-your-life sure you want a 2x Aimpoint?!  They don't have the best reputation (shitty FOV being the biggest knock).

My vote for a perfect set-up is the ML2 ($338.95) and the GG&G cantilever mount ($169.95) - on swfa.com those are PN#s 10338 and GGG-1014

Just to make your head hurt even more!, ImpactGuns.com has the Aimpoint M2 (which is NVG compatible) and a GG&G cantilever mount for $498, but SWFA's really good about meeting competitors' prices, so you're dialed-in no matter what.

- Edited to show ImpactGuns is offering the M2, not the ML2 -

GG&G has the package sales going on, you can get a M2, which is NV compatible and a Cantilever mount for 480 dollars.  It is a superb deal.  They will add the A2 BUIS for an additional 110 dollars.

I agree with El Roto, the Aimpoint with Cantilever mount is the best package available if you go the Aimpoint route.

Good luck.

ImpactGuns deal is with a M2, NOT the ML2. Which makes this an even sweeter deal.

I have and really like the Aimpoint M2 and GG&G Cantilever mount combo.  I got them from Impact when they first started offering them for $450 as a package...lucky me!

Anyway, the only...only disadvantage to going with the Cantilever mount is that if you ever decide you want a SIR or possibly a RAS II, you're going to be limiting yourself because you can't mount the cantilever on the SIR and still cowitness.  You can use it with the RAS II but you will be rendering the bridge nearly useless.  If you ever plan to do this, go with the ARMS #22M68 as it's more versatile and the throw-lever is kickass!

Here's a pic:

The ARMS 22M68 Aimpoint ring combo with a spacer needed if just on the receiver, is the hands down best for my money. The throw lever is the fastest on and off and absolutely the repeat zero champion. The #40 is the mot rugged fold down and the only one that automatically goes back into battery if hit by something like a branch, sleeve, etc.
Good shootin, Jack

Thats why I went with the #22 M68 and riser then I just put the #40 on all mounted directly to the flat top. There is so many dam ways to mount them.
