What aimpoint should I buy for my AR15?  I use the gun for my job as a police officer and use it for everything that could happen on a shift.  I will be using a la rue mount since I have had many great dealings with them in the past.  I'm also considering the add on 3x mag for longer distance threats or peaking into windows as a later add on if that changes my selection now let me know.  Thanks for any help.  Brandon

That depends.  Does your dept. have/use NVDs?    I use an M2 on mines due to the fact that we have NVDs in our dept.  I bought mines a few years ago, but if I were to buy one now I'd get the M3 only because it has a better battery life.  If NVDs are out, then just get the MLs.   And good choice on the Larue.

Here's a pic of my current duty set-up:

I'd go with either the M3 or M4.  Aimpoint just released their newest M4 variant that has the battery compartment at the 5 o'clock position so as to give the shooter a better field of view while scanning for targets with the weapon up.  The Micros are cool, but seem like they would need a bit of training to get used to the smaller window.

I'd make sure your Aimpoint is compatible with NODs because you never know what you will have in your toolbox in the future (if you don't have them already).  Good choice on the Larue mount.  I have been buying my optics straight from them because of their package deals and have been very happy with the price.

M4 in a Larue mount, while your on Larue's website you might as well order the 3X magnifier and flip mount too. If money is a concern, get the M4 and a Poor Boy special.

BTW, LaRue has the best Aimpoint/Mount combos, not to mention LaRue gives LE discount.
