The "how to spot a fake Aimpoint" thread seems dead, and none of the pics are showing up for me, so thought I may get some help here.

What do you think, real or fake?

Not sure. Guy is selling it on a local forum and the price had me suspicious. Hopefully it's just a good deal.
I thought it looked real, but I only own a T1, so I wasn't sure what to look for.
My buddy has an M2, maybe I can get pics to compare.

What is the deal with inside the battery cap?

Whats the price? M2's are pretty affordable now and can be had cheap.

$300 with the mount.

Looks real to me, and that's a normal-ish price for an M2 with LaRue mount.  A lot of M2s go for $250 with a stock or no mount, so with the LaRue and in good condition, nothing out of the ordinary.  If you want it, I'd say grab it.

On a semi-related note... have they started copying the PRO's yet or are those still safe to buy used?

I'd say thats about what they go for with the larue mount.
