| I saw this mentioned in a Shot Show thread. Anyone have any info? |
Here is a repost of the info I seen in a magazine and posted in another thread last night.... ......As for one of the new Aimpoints, it is the Micro T1 (585.00'ish). I got the new Shooting Illustrated last night and it was in it. Looks slick. Aluminum and stainless steel construction, 3 1/2 ounces, 2.4in long, 1.7in high, with an integral picatinny rail mount. Has a 4moa dot, and 30,000 hour battery life, or 3 1/2 years continuous at the full brightness setting! To quote part of the article;
... it is deffinately tactical, prettly slick, and will be a hit. ETA:The Aimpoint T-1 is a tube style like the rest of their Comp' series, just does not look like anything they have ever made. I figured I would add that since the size given might lead some to think it was just another Doctor/J-Point type sight. |
| Thanks for the info. When you say it is a tube style like other aimpoints, do you know if the diameter is the same as other aimpoints, or is it a smaller diameter tube in addition to being shorter? I would assume that if they designed an integral mount they would make it cowitness as well? Thanks. |

If you really want to see how small this thing is (which I came in here looking for more info) check it out here: www.onpointfirearms.com/shotshow/2007/view/Flash.view/cover.php?name=Shot_Show_2007_Day_2 It's on the brown DSA/B&T TP9 (civilian Steyr TMP). Tiny little bugger. |
Yeah that was my reaction when I spoke with the lady at the Aimpoint booth. I just about choked right in front of her. It's a very nice littel sight,3 different finishes. And as was stated VERY small and compact. It seemed to be promoted as more of a handgun optic but they had them mounted on everything down there. Even the new B&T pistol DSA is selling had them on it. Isaw tehm on rifles and shotguns as well. I lied it, a lot. But I don;t know if I liked it that much. |
did you see it mounted on any AR's? from the looks of it it doesn't seem to be a very AR friendly optic. It looks like it has to be mounted directly to a rail so far AR's you couldn't use any rings which would really limit they type of mounts you can use. |
|
Yeah, on a RAS II it would probably work, or something with a folding front BUIS. Or as stated, a BUIS on a magnified optic like the picatinny cap for the ARMS #22 rings or LaRue if they made a picatinny version of the doctor cap for their SPR series of rings/mount. I deff' could see that from them since LaRue is the king of rapid prototyping around these parts. As for the Aimpoint price? Ouch.

No kidding. An Aimpoint CompM2 with Larue mount is only $490.00 from LT. It looks like aimpoint and Eotech are in a price race to see who can be the first company to charge more for a dot sight than a Trijicon ACOG. The Eotech 553 is up to $619.00 many places now

| The mini Aimpoint looks much smaller in person than in the picture on the above link. While I was at SHOT they handed off a sample of this and the new M4 to ARMS and Larue. It can be used on anything but was told it was developed for the military PDW system. I think it would be great in conjunction with a magnified optic. |
