I have an AR with the A2 carry handle. I trying to figure out the best way to mount an aimpoint. Should I mount it to the carry handle (will this cause zeroing problems)? Any other suggestions would be welcome. Thanks

A "gooseneck" mount, such as the ARMS 38 would be best.

Actually vinnie has the right solution just the wrong ARMS #, what your lookin for is an ARMS #39A2 and the ARMS #22M68 is what you'll want to attach the Aimpoint to the gooseneck.

You can get these items from Donnie at www.sableco.net or search the equipment exchange.

Other than my covers folding down and flat (out of my field of vision) this is how mine mounts on my fixed handle M4.  I also prefer the Aimpoint Quick Release Mount to the ARMS #22.  Quice release are the key words.  We have to wear gloves much of the year.

Mounting as far forward as possible makes target acquisition and transition easier.

I recently E-mailed aimpoint and asked them If a person mounted there ML2 or ML model up to 3 inches above barrel if the unit could still be sighted in.  THey said yes, what do you guys think?  I told them I was going to use a ultralux mount from DPMS and they said It would work just fine.  INPUT?

The Aimpoint Quick Release mount will allow you to use the iron sights, that's how it's designed.  On a flattop you'll need the M4 Spacer (should be in the box).  Over the handguards (as in the photo) with the ARMS #39A2Plus or Aimpoint Forward Mount you just use the mount with no spacer.

The throw lever is true quick release as you don't have to keep turning a knob, plus the lever doesn't stick out to the side as much and get gert into threads, etc.The lever also is easier to work with gloves as you don't have to try and grab a wet or icy knob with gloves, the lever is much easier to just catch and give a good pull. The Aimpoint ring locks you out of going to other set up's as it has no abillity to have an ajustment of ht. spacer.                                    Good Shootin, Jack

I have two Rifles with A2 uppers. One with an ML2 and the other with an ML2 2X.  They work just fine.

KEEP IN MIND THAT THE TYPE OF FOREND USED IS ALSO A FACTOR. THE ARMS #39A2 WILL NOT CLEAR M4 HANDGUARDS. THE P.R.I. HI-RISE GOOSENECK WILL. OPTIMALLY, BOTH SHOULD BE USED WITH THE ARMS #22M68.

BTW, I FLIP MY LENS COVERS DOWN, AS WELL.

WE CARRY THE AIMPOINT, ARMS, AND P.R.I. LINES, AND PRESENTLY HAVE ALL OF THIS FINE EQUIPMENT MENTIONED ABOVE IN STOCK.

What is the difference between the ARMS #22M68 and the Aimpoint Quick Release? I got rid of my compact ACOG and want to put an Aimpoint Comp on my SP-1 Carbine.

Does anyone know anything about the "standard Z mount" offered on Sogarmory site? It looks about the same as other's I've seen and about half the price. Just wondered if anyone owned one and what they thought?

Tnek --

The difference is in the method of locking the sight to the rail.  The Aimpoint uses the US Army specified single torque knob (also used on the US ELCAN machinegun sight.  The ARMS uses their single lever to lock the sight to the rail.

As everyone says, either a "goose-neck" (bi-level) type mount or a standard carry handle mount will work.

The big difference is in the scope position. If you find that you have to cant your head over to get to the iron sights then the higher sightline that the standard carry handle mount offers could be easier for you. On the other hand, if you would need to stretch your head up to get to a sightline that is above the iron sights then the gooseneck would be better.

i have mounted my ML2 on the carry handle and love it.  I used a ARMS #16a to get the job done.  It does allow use of the iron sights also.
