Just picked up an M4s for my new rifle. The rifle has a standard FSB.  Should I zero the Aimpoint using the front sight? Or zero it just above the front sight. On one of my other rifles I run the Comp M3 but that rifle has flip up sights so I zeroed it with the sights down. Or am I over-thinking it and just go zero it?

I personally, would zero it where the bullet holes are

Do this.

Just go zero it the sights have nothing to do with it.....when you are done zeroing the aimpoint if you are co-witnessed the dot will sit on the top of the front sight post if the iron sights are zeroed.

If I may jump onto his thread here.  Does one zero the Iron sights first, then the red-dot?

This is how I tend to operate... I usually zero the bare rifle and then mount and zero the optics. Assuming a lower 1/3rd co-witness, you can get a pretty good zero on the optics without even putting any ammo down range using your zeroed irons as starting point.  Then again, I've never had to do much tweaking with my compM2s... they are pretty spot on out of the box in my experience. Or perhaps, I've just been lucky.
