I have been throwing around the idea of getting the 3x Mmagnifier for my aimpoint but I am not sure if I want to spend the cash. I do a little 3-gun shooting with it which would help, and a little coyote hunting which would also help. Does anyone have one who can tell me if they like it? Does it make much difference?

Its a compromise either way you look at it. Its not a magnified "scope", but its also not a restricted as something like an ACOG.

I had one for a while, and decided, I have no reason to compromise.  I have a carbine with a "dot" optic, and another upper with a magnified optic.

There is no "mystery" in my daily missions - when I head to the range I know which optic I'll need.

For what you describe, you're better off with a dot for 3 gun, and a real scope for yotes.

Get the 3X with Larue pivot mount and have the best of both worlds.

I love mine.

Get a 2 MOA Aimpoint for best 3X results in my opinion.

I have a 3x mag on a samson flip with arms throw level behind a aimpoint. I cant say that it was worth the money yet. Love the aimpoint though.

I'd buy a QD mount for the Aimpoint and a QD mount for a magnified optic.  Then you can pick the optic you want and not have to compromise.

I have one and plan on keeping it.  Is it the best solution?  That depends on how you plan on using it.  I have an M3 and an EOTech 553 that I mainly use by themselves.  If I suddenly need to add magnification the 3x works well.  If I was mainly shooting 200+ yards then I'd get a magnified scope, probably the Trijicon Accupoint.  If you mainly shoot at less than 100 yards then what's the need.  Your choice.

I agree with you.

+1

Get the Larue mounts and switch out your optics as needed with no loss of zero.  Or use this as an excuse to get another upper, with a second optic, which will then spawn another lower and leave you with 2 rifles.......
