...or anyone else as knowledgeable as him about Aimpoints.  I am just about to purchase a ML2 and want to know what is the best mount system (mount and/or spacer) to mount an Aimpoint to a flat top so it cowitnesses with the a standard FSB and an ARMS 40.  I've seen the ones that angle forward and I like those, so what are those...ARMS sometnin or rather, and do they require a spacer.

Finally where is the best place to buy the mount and spacer (if needed)?

Thanks

You want the ARMS #22M68 and cantilever spacer.  Quite a few dealers here on the board sell them for great prices...just check the EE.

Both KAC and GG&G also make excellent cantilever Aimpoint mounts.

The mount you're refering to is the ARMS #22M68, with the ARMS cantilever spacer.

I can't tell you where the "best" place to buy from is, since there are about 7 of us with these parts for sale in the Equipment Exchange. I doubt you could go wrong with any of us.

I've got them in stock, let me know if you're interested.

Get the LaRue M68 CCO mount.  It is superior to the ARMS mount by far.

You will not be sorry.

I agree that LaRue mounts seem to be superior when it comes to
holding zero!
Mark of LaRue Tactical has just e-mailed me that he may bring out
an Aimpoint cantilever mount!! Please mail him so that he sees that
there is demand!

My top choices would be:

LaRue
KAC (cantilever or straight)
ARMS 22M68.

Im a recent LaRue convert.  Tank tough gear thats good to go.

What he said.

I for one has been taken by the LaRue mount and their speedlever.  Best mount money can buy for your Aimpoint.

Does the LaRue still cowitness fine?
6/12/2004 9:29:47 PM EDT

A hair taller than the ARMS, but perfectly for me since I shoot with the dot over the irons most of the time anyway.

How high is the dot over the FSP using the ARMS and the Larue?

ETA: You can use that LMT with that mount and cowitness?  It looks like the rear site is a little low for that.

Two points:

1.  Notice the rear flip cap was removed from the Aimpoint in that photo.

Without a cantilever mount the LMT rear BUIS interferes with easily opening the rear flip cap.  It's not a big deal because the cap is flexible and can be pushed open but it will take a second longer to do this.

2.  The ARMS mount with full spacer places the red dot right on the top of the front sight post.

This is important to me because I like to maintain a consistent cheek weld on my stock.  Nothing has to change if I'm using the Aimpoint or the irons.  I also like that low cheek weld position you get with the irons and don't want my head higher to use the Aimpoint.

BTW, I zeroed the Aimpoint, then bore sighted the iron sights using the red dot.  I was within 1 MOA of zero.

This is true. I initially used Aimpoint/22M68 on my SIR rail, and the dot sit a little bit higher than the front sight.

Now I'm using Aimpoint/22M68 with cantilever spacer on receiver rail and virtually the dot and top of front sight is in the same height. (of course, I'm talking about this when Aimpoint/iron sight is zeroed in)

It cowitnesses the same as the PRI mount.  We're talking 10ths of an inch here.  You can still look through the irons with the dot on top of the front sight.

The best part is, it doesnt slide back and forth on my rails.

Most of your operators are going with higher optics mount because they believe it is a faster setup. The PRI and the LaRue Tactical Aimpoint mounts are the only companies that provide this feature. You can still co-witness with your irons so your not making any sacrifices.....

Notice the full size mounting slots. This helps insure that the mount stays put!

Has anyone ever had their QD lever snag on something and open up?  Imagine the Aimpoint falling off when you are in a hurry!  Holy Crap!

Thanks for the pics Grant.

Now I understand why LaRue can be more rugged than ARMS. I don't know why ARMS didn't do that to their mounts, more securing points are always better.

Nope, not with the ARMS or the LaRue.

That is one of the problems with the ARMS mounts. If you look on the bottom of them you will notice that the rail slots do not go all the away across...
