I saw this stock on Gun Broker and have no idea why the bidding on this is so high. Other than being NOS, what is so great about this stock?

Some shady people on GB. |
|
The opening bid was .01, no reserve. The description was honest and pictures were very clear. The bidding history also shows that more than two people drove the final value over $500.
Just because an item sells for an especially high price, that does not suggest foul play… just human nature. As long as the high bidder is pleased with their transaction, that is what matters in the end. The suggestions that someone is getting ripped off, or that unethical bidding practices drove the price up is extremely disrespectful and spiteful. |

As stated above shady business practices are a common occurrence on GB. If you and your buyer are happy with a $500 type E stock so be it. Called capitalism. The fact is the buyer is paying over 4 times the items worth is a fact but unrelevent. If your happy about it so be it. That is why I personally don't sell on GB. There is a line that can be blurred, making a profit or being un ethical. Your business your sale, I really don't care. |

The opening bid was .01 with no reserve. Multiple bidders drove the price up, three bidders were involved with driving the price over $500. In fact, I blocked the bidder with zero feedback, which had little impact on the final selling price. I spoke with the buyer of the auctions this morning, and he is thrilled. I tossed in the original BCG and some other parts as well. So yes, I am thrilled with the outcome of the auction!. I can also comfortably look myself in the mirror. The auction was ethical, honest and fair. Have a nice day. |

The item is worth what the bidder is willing to pay. I open with a .01 opening bid with no reserve. Sure, if bidding activity is low, I risk losing $$$ (…and I have). On the flip side, clear pictures and honesty sell well in a market full of crooks. People are willing to spend $$$ for piece of mind (including myself). |

Yes, you ARE missing something. You must look at it from the perspective of the buyer.
If the buyer is building a semi-auto M16A1 clone like most of the people on this forum. Then indeed, the price seems extravagant. What is the value of the completed clone? $1200-$1500 pehaps? However, the buyer may be the lucky owner of a pristine M16A1 lower receiver. In which case the extra few hundred dollars spent to complete the rifle with pristine parts may come back to him in spades when the value of the completed rifle could exceed $25,000. In that case, $560 for a pristine buttstock or $2000 for a pristine complete upper assembly would seem like a good investment. |
| Hey, he said what he had and gave good pictures and someone was willing to pay what it meant to them. No problem on the sellers part. The buyer probably should have been more educated but in the end he really wanted it and was willing to pay for it. I'd be extremely happy if I was the seller. It's not like the seller was one of the guys on GB knowingly selling fake stuff and saying this was used by spec ops etc. |
| I got a Colt 62667, emerald green follower mag from this seller on GB. Started as a .01 auction and sold @ $40. Mag was mint and worth every penny as far as I am concerned. Personally, I thought this seller was extremely honest and did everything from comms to packing & shipping perfectly and would buy from him again. I just know what I am willing to pay for any specific item and will not in any circumstance go above that price. I do not see any fault with a seller doing an auction starting at a penny and letting the free market see where it goes. It could have just as easily sold for $1 if there was no interest. Just my .02 on the whole thing. |

That's a happy Dog Face Soldier!
NO shade from me Bro. I've sold crap I got out of the garbage and seen it go for stoopit money on ePay before.
The following is a direct quote of a recurring conversation I've had at countless gun shows over the last 40 years; Some guy, "What'cha want for it?" Your favorite Garbage Man, "What'l you GIVE me for it?" May not have been "supply and demand" this time out but you make's yer bets and you take's yer chances! Dog Face won this round! I know that I have paid more for an item that I should on GB, but sometimes you need that one particular part. Your items were in awesome condition and sometimes that is motivation enough. Maybe the buyer has an original M16A1 lower he plans on putting the parts on. If you have $25,000+ invested in a rifle, what's another $1,500. |
