| I finally decided to shoot my pre-ban Colt HBAR a few weeks age. I found out that the 5 round mags that came with the gun would not feed. I got some 20 round Colts mags wtih the metal follower and now I can MANUALLY feed rounds through it with no problem. I thought all was well until I fired it this weekend. Now after I chamber the first round and fire it it may or may not fully eject and most of the time wont load a fresh round. I am shooting reloads and have not tired any factory stuff. Is that most likely my problem? I dont want to go buy a bunch of ammo for a faulty AR. I guess I should go buy one box of factory stuff and try it out. Question---Should any new ammo(Federal,Winchester,Remington) work in an AR with no problems? I found a 200 round pack of Federal bulk as Wally World for about $53.00. Is that stuff hot enough to cycle properly? thanks |
There is your problem. When diagnosing an AR you should use factory ammo - preferably M193 or equivalent. I'll bet your reloads are on the light side.
