Are the factory carry handle sights on BM 16" and 20" rifles regulated to a specific load (ie. 855 or  193).  If so , which load.

I would assume M193, as that is the most common, HOWEVER, you know what they say about ASS-U-ME!!!

No, iron sights cannot be calibrated for a particular munition.

You simply zero with the cartridge you are most likely to use, then plan to compensate for the variation you will encounter with other cartridges.

For example, I zero my 20" A2 with 55gr M193, but expect that at 100 yards 62gr M855 will impact about 2 inches lower.

If you play with various loads, you will know what to expect. You can also play with your elevation dial and come up with preset number of clicks from zero for each cartridge, but I do not find this practical.

Carrying Handle is calibrated for a 20" 1/7 twist shooting M855 ball.  This is the sights that were adopted for the M16A2 service rifle.  Once set on 3/8 minus one for a 25 m zero, you could dial in your range past 300-800m if you estimated your range to target correctly.

In theory, yes. However he specified 16" and 20" and did not specify twist ratio. without the specific variables being the same, all bets are off on this calibration. This is the military calibration for the M16A2, not necessarily going to be 100% for civilian variations unless it is a 20" 1/7 A2 model.

Specifically,  they are both 1/9 twist factory BM XM15A3  rifles with no alterations.
