What can anyone tell me about Anderson rifles? I saw one today on the shelf and all my buddy's say "I've heard of them, but don't know anything about em."  Seemed like a nice firearm and I'm looking at getting another rifle and here on the island selection on the shelf is limited...Armalites, bushmaster and Colts and Windhams at Walmart.  I have a built gun now...Colt upper and the rest put together by the guy I bought it from.  Suggestions...

I got one of their lowers from a LGS.  Finish is nice.  It seems like I had do a litle fitting, like about 20 seconds worth, but I can't remember exactly what it was.

Thanks for the honest replies.  I guess basically I'm needing advice on this Anderson vs a Colt or Armalite.  I have a Frankengun now and want get a complete gun and I don't have the time or money to experiment on a gun I've never heard of without getting some advice on it first.  And I'm not a big rifle guy; very much into handguns but really only want one good AR for right now.  But prior to a few months ago I'd not heard of a BCM or a lot of other brands either, so beyond the big names, I'm in the dark.

Sorry?  I'm just a guy who's new to the AR platform and need some advice.  I searched "Anderson" here on m phone and didn't find anything, so I asked.  I do mostly lurk here and just read and learn from there, and I've avoided posting because of all the newbs I've seen get flamed here like I just did.  Sorry to upset you like that...just looking for opinions on a gun from those that know more than I do.

That'd be great.  I just searched again and only saw this thread.  Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I can only search the past 30 days.

But good lord, did I make the mistake of posting this question...flamed and called a troll more than once on the first page.  Apparently I should've waited until I had 700 posts and already knew everything about everything before asking.  I'm sorry I'm just a lowly (military) helo mechanic and crewman and that I've never been to Iraq or work on a SWAT team...I just wanted to know about a gun I saw at the store in town.  I live on an island in Alaska so we're kinda limited on what we get here and this Anderson showed up on the shelf.  I'll save up and buy a $4,000 custom gun and maybe I'll be taken seriously.

I just went outside the site and googled it...found a thread where back in like 2010, a 3-poster said it's one of the best guns on the market.  I'm a real poster, and not a shill or a troll or associated with them...I'm just a guy looking for a gun.  I guess I'll go with a Colt.  Don't worry, I won't bother you guys with any more of my questions.

IMO, the OP is not a shill and was just asking about a not so well known brand of rifle.

If you're legit you are certainly welcome to participate in this forum. It just looks really funny to us when we get the same "Anderson" questions over and over from FNG posters. Don't leave because participating is the one way to prove to all of us jaded members that you aren't a shill. Stick around and hang out, you've got nothing to loose!

Also, skip the colt, assemble one from hand picked parts.  Its the only way to fly short of a Larue

First post and asking about Anderson. YOU ARE A SHILL UNTIL YOU COME BACK WITH A PAID TEAM ACCOUNT.  You will DISSAPPEAR like a fart in the wind after this thread though.  If not I will publicly apologize.  Last time this came up I checked up on the guy for weeks.  Never posted again.  He was a single digit poster asking about Anderson with best intentions.  How many times is a coincidence?  Why are these coincidences always Anderson and not some other unadvertised brand?

Nah I'm not going anywhere, but not sure I'll be posting much and getting flamed until I've got a more suitable question.   I'm on the site looking and reading every day since June, but I don't know enough to ask high end questions so I don't....and this thread is why.

I'll skip on the Anderson.  I went back to the store and looked at it, and it doesn't have any of the problems I've read about, but I'm too scared of it now.  So now I'm back to what's available here on the island, and I'm not even gonna ask that question.  I HAVE seen how Colt threads go...I'll spare you the typing.

Jeff, AKA "Fart in the wind."

$24 all it takes.  Maybe I'm wrong.  Maybe that's all you get on the island.

You come back with a paid team $24.  Next years is on me!

Sorry on phone can't make it live.

For the record I'm not big on public flamings but if you are not Anderson just know they post on here regularly while small time guys struggling to make it buy their industry partner.  That just jerks my chain.

$24 for what?  Is there a VIP club here or something?  If I join that, I'm legit?

I'm on Kodiak Island.  All we have is the Exchange, Walmart and Mack's Sports in town.  Macks got the Anderson in and today was the first I'd seen it.  I'm over the Anderson.  I've googled them and if that's how they do business, well nevermind.  Now I'm down to mass produced guys available everywhere- Colt, Bushmaster, Windham, Armalite and S&W...nothing fancy, but I think pretty mainstream names.  Even a FNG like myself has heard of those brands, which is why I've not asked about them.  And like I say, I've seen how the "what should I get" threads go.  No thanks...  I've also seen my branch of service beat on in a few threads, so I've kept my head down.  Don't need flamed for my job as well.

I'll go buy my mass produced POS of choice and then come back and ask which Magpul stock I should get.

I've learned the difference between commercial and mil spec stocks.  I've learned the different twist rates.  I've learned what SHTF means.  I've learned what co-witness means.  These are all new terms to a handgun guy new to ARs.  Mostly I've learned to STFU and keep my head down and don't ask stupid questions.

Hit up the general forums "team member" it's a lot more civil there. By being a paid member it shows that you are a contributing member to the site. Members will put a little more faith in who you are and what you post. A little though. But the reality is you just went from a troll/shill acct to a paid 13er . Nice.

Anyway welcome to the site, thanks for being a team member, and maybe you can bring something new to the site from Kodiak Island.

The members section is listed on the General Board, as well as the BOTD Forum that you now have access too.

The real benefit to a Team Membership IMO, is the Subscriptions feature, and the "Jump to last read post" feature. If you spend any amount of time here, it is worth the money.
