Does anyone know what I can do to remedy this little incident and will it be a problem in the future? The finish just flaked right off. No clue how it happened.

Aluminum Black from Birchwood-Casey.  Probably wasn't thoroughly degreased prior to anodizing.

Normal wear and tear...Just leave it in the safe and nothing bad will happen to it..

I though of just leaving it. But I am too picky. I don't mind normal wear and tear. It adds character.
This was a big shiny eye-soar. It was a finish flaw, rather normal wear and tear. I haven't even shot the thing yet.

Got some Casey Birchwood Flat Black delivered today. She's all fixed up.
