| Is powder coating a viable option to anodizing? How is it for scratch/chemical resistance? |
|
If you have some reamer for the pins, I don't see why you couldn't powder coat your receiver. Strip it bare, and remove any natural oxide layers to maximize the electrical current, and you can apply it pretty thin. Thin as in maybe a few thousands.
Powder coating is is not super chip resistant, but neither is an anodize coat. Things to look out for, are chemical stripper which will remind you that it is nothing but a method of applying an enamel paint. You might look into some of the miracle coating like gun kote, etc. That's also a viable option. If it's applied correctly, it's about is good as paint technology gets. Ron |
