I've read that the taper pins are driven out from left to right. Is that looking from the breech or the muzzle side of the barrel?

On my Bushmaster the taper pins exit on the same side the ejection port so left to right from the breech end. Now my upper from Legal Transfers which I believe is Rock River uses straight (not taper) pins that are a press fit and these can exit from either side.

Carefully look at both ends of the pins.  Drive the pins out toward the larger diameter end.

That makes sense.

I don't recall anyone saying their taper pins went out any way other than from bolt catch side to trap door side.  (left to right as looking down the barrel).

FYI - When talking guns, just like when talking cars, left and right side is always reference from the operators view point (i.e. on a car, the drivers side (for a US built car) is always the left side). The left side of a gun is always the side that would be on the left when you hold it.
