I have never shot a rifle other than the M-16 and M-14 in the Military.
Decided that the best way to learn is to build my own. This will be built with low price parts because of budgeting issues at the moment. | Check out PSA's blemished uppers. They run cheap, but look great. Mine is blemished internally, so it isn't even noticeable. Others have mildly noticeable exterior blemishes, but for an inexpensive first build, PSA is a great option for many of your AR part needs! |

Welcome JaxRolo...I like the fact that you stated you were building with low price parts but you still bought good quality! IT can be done! Just don't go buy any chinese crap off of Amazon. Good start. I have purchase Aero Precision uppers and they are GTG. If you have questions just read back a few days and it has probably been asked. Good tutorials are abundant to help with assembly. |

My lower is actually a blemished part but I can not see any blemishes at all. |

PSA has a pretty good deal on an upper right now. I got my first upper in EE. I think I saved about 150 or 200 on it and it was still brand new.

| i am getting very close to the assembly stage on mine, as i finally received the bolt carrier group, sans trigger, from failzero. i have the aero midlength upper with the continuous optics platform....it is an awesome looking and feeling setup, and the only downside i can think of is that the rails are permanently attached....thus your rail has to be that fixed length as it is already forged onto the upper. it is a very strong and rigid system,...i just ordered a wilson ttu trigger today. soon as that arrives i need to get the CH and gas block and im done. good luck soldier. |

Hi Jax,
I am also in my first build. Question: What was your thoughts and choices for the Bolt carrier Group? And a few things to consider from my end... My LPK was short the trigger guard roll pin, which is no big deal, as I also plan on a third party item, such as a magpul or... ? The LPK was also short the pistol grip screw, but I am going to Lowe's and get one shortly. I think it is a 1/4-28 x .75 long... I also must have installed the spring and pin incorrectly on my bolt catch, because the roll pin went in kinda goofy, and I now have a small finish nick right there for all to see, YIKES!!!! The catch has no springy action and just does not feel right at all. So while I am at Lowe's I will get a small enough punch to get that roll pin out and correct my mistake and I hope I won't re-nick any thing else.... My Buddie's choice for a hand grip was the Hogue Monogrip 15000. I liked that look and feel so, I got one also. It was $21.00 at the gun show last weekend. So how much do you think you will end up at? Had you planned on doing a price list for us? I would luv to see how far I have to go money wise. I think I will use your shopping list for my build completion if you don't mind... Anyway, Thx for the info, and Good luck with your build!!!! I think we are off to a great start!!!! Dan'l |
