So I've had a few noob posts lately to help me dial in my parts choices, thank you for bearing with. After about 2 hours of looking over threads, I found in the industry forums a thread about the Spikes Tactical lightweight NiB BCG coating.
Spike's LW NiB BCG Wanted to go with this BCG but if I am going to drop top dollar for one I want to choose a BCG with the shiniest, thickest, smoothest NiB finish on the market. Most local shops don't have anything like this sitting on the shelves, so I'm forced to go by an online shops default photo. Which NiB BCG do you choose? |
| If you're looking for shiny, don't go NiB. As soon as you shoot it, it will get stained black. I have only less than 400 rounds through my RA Precision Match NiB BCG, and it's pretty well stained. It's still slick as heck, but not that nice sparkly finish it was when it was new. I have a NiCorr BCG from LWRC, and that has kept its finish. I hear chrome or QPQ bolts don't get stained like the NiB ones do. |
| I think the ST LW BCG looks cool, but definitely not practical for most unless you are really trying to build an ultra-lightweight gun. If you are open to a chromed option Primary Arms has a chrome Rock River BCG on sale now for $149. |

I wanted to do the ST LW BCG under the assumption that it would be superior not only in look but in function as well. Function is first an foremost for me followed by a great look! Ultra lightweight is not that big of deal for my build. I have recently had a few purchases from Primary Arms and have been very happy with them. Going to check out that link you provided now. I recently purchased the RCA nitrided BCG and it's amazing. Slicker than NiB, easier to clean and as far as I can tell a better finish. |

Pics taken today. I have been cleaning it as soon as I get home. No suppressor. However, I don't soak and scrub. Just wipe and rub with Slip 2000 EWL.

Dude I saw that last week but I'm not totally sure that it's smart to do.. Do you think polishing it will remove some of the coating? |
