Anyone have any experience with Anvil Arms of Landland, FL? I spoke to the owner today at a local gun show & have a good feeling about them, thinking about going to there shop one day soon & getting them to make me a new gun, just trying to see what the word on the street is. |
|
I met them at the last show in Orlando.. they all seemed to be straight forward men and women... bought two new mags from them.. they explained the differences.. "fit.. finish and quality..different followers.. pros and cons.. " they all seemed like they really enjoyed what they do.. |
|
It was a pleasure to talk to Jon, I went to the show today just to talk to him & was impressed with his product. He said I could bring my custom logo & he would laser engrave it on the lower for free if I bought my rifle fro him. I think I'm going to take a day off work soon & just drive down & have one put together as I watch. I'm really after a tack driver for predator hunting & don't mind spending some money I just want to get what I pay for. |
I will say this.... I spoke to him at lenght about that and was told They are made in the US one of the best receiver manufatcturers available. I can't and won't speak for him. What I was told is he has an agreement not to disclose who it it.... And I'm taking him at his word. I've looked at the guns and the fit and finish are TOP NOTCH. I am buying an SBR from him. That's my .02 David |
| I emailed Jon, and spoke with him on the phone about an upper I want built. I left a message about 3-4 weeks ago of what I wanted and sent an email with pictures. I hadn't heard back from him. I don't know what's up. I guess I need to check back, huh? I know a couple of email addresses he sent me keep coming back with errors. |
If you don't hear from him... IM me your info and I'll catch him. I know with trying to get things going he's been busy as a one armed paper hanger. David |

| I work less than a mile from them. Do they have a showroom or something that I could look through? I think they were selling lowers at the Lakeland gunshow a couple weeks ago, it seemed like a good price, but I wanted to know if they had a decent reputation or not. |
Ditto. Some folks are like school boys with a secret, dying to let the world know that they know something you don't. ![]() Most folks around here already know this, but for those who don't, there are a relatively small number of companies that can produce lower forgings on a large scale. Like most folks in the industry, large and small, Jon has his lowers built to his specs by one of these companies. Since he is the one who sells his lowers with his name on them, you get the benefit of his high standards as an additional level of quality control, with a lower that is still priced competitively with what is out there. |
|
Another big +1 for Jon and Anvil Arms. Great knowledgeable guy, with a no bullshit attitude. I have always been impressed when talking with him. His prices are awesome, and his builds are even more incredible. Hope to catch him at the next show for a laundry list of stuff I have been assembling. |
You know if he is coming to the Tampa show next month? |
| hey, i didnt say the exact company that he went to, i only eluded to it, i was being somewhat courteous even though i dont have to be. anyone who has been around AR15's for a while can figure out which manufacturing company i was refering to. and heres the things, there is no Non Disclosure Act between this company and the people that are putting thier orders in. Pretty much you buy the alloted lowers that they send you each shipping period, weither you selling the lowers or not, you sell all your lowers and make a profit, ya stay in business, ya dont sell all of them, your sitting on a lot of lowers and risk going under if you are not a smart business person in this market, the company that makes the lowers does not care if you are in the red or in the black, as long as they get paid for thier lowers they are happy. |

Hey, Just wanted to put in my .02 on Jon of Anvil Arms. Been in direct contact with him as of late and he is a GREAT person to deal with. We had some confusion when I saw him at the Jax's show, but after speaking to him I have grown to see the type of person he is. I know anyone who has seen his products can attest for the quality, but I want to assure you that he's a stand up guy of the sorts that you won't get from other companies. If you want a quallity product with a hell of a company and man behind it then look no further than Anvil Arms. My .02! |
|
I won a lower receiver from AA and added one of their 11.5" uppers. I just have to wait for it to get transferred to my local dealer and then to me. I'll be sure to post pics and a review when I get it in a month or so. Jon is a great guy to deal with and it was a real pleasure finally meeting him at the gun show in Jacksonville last weekend. |
Yes, he does. Send him an email and tell him what you'd like. Jon at anvilarms.com |
Their laser engraver looks like a combination of a mid-size Xerox machine and an inkjet printer. They drag it around from show to show. Depending on the material and depth of cut, it can take anywhere between 15 seconds and several minutes. My lower engraving only took about two or three minutes, and was done right in front of me. Kind of cool to watch, too. |
Hey man, was that you there with your artwork on the memory stick this morning? I was there having Jon fixing my fuck up on the FSB. I have to give a HUGE thank you to Jon for the great work and attention to detail in his work. He balanced a hectic crowd, while smithing on my upper, and answering all the trust NFA questions for everyone. He is a great guy, and not one of those full of shit vendors selling crap, and claiming FN parts. No shit, 3 vendors today claimed their AR builds contained only FN internals. It drove me absolutely apeshit. Its good to have people like Anvil Arms around to cut out the handjob service, and provide top quality product and first rate service. BTW. The Tampa gunshow sucked, except for the service from Anvil. |
The show is never too bad. Did you happen to notice if Shoot Straight still had the titanium taurus snubnose .38 spls for like $300? He was doing a huge sale on them a while ago, including last gun show. I want one now. lol Can't wait to go visit Jon and get another lower tomorrow morning. :) |
|
If Shoot Straight was the last gun dealer allowed to sell anything on the face of the earth, I would use my bow for self defense rather than spend a dime with those pricks. But yeah, have fun at Anvil tomorrow. Get there early, the line was 30 minutes to get in this morning at 10:00am. And it sucked. |
The Sunday line is never as bad. I do know what you mean about Shoot Straight, they are douchebags. I just want a Taurus revolver and he was having a hella sale on them.
|
|
That was me with the thumb drive alright. Were you the guy getting the YHM handguard installed? I started wanting one, then two I walked away with three... I assume there is no cure for BRD? After getting the engraving done I had to wait to get my Marvin the Martian lower back from Jon as he showed it off and took pictures. All I could do was smile, he was so enthusiastic about it. |
I don't know who makes Anvils lowers, I have never asked. But they are top quality from an uneducated eye view. I will have several soon, to use as special builds for family. |
Shoot, I'm planning on getting 2 more and I havent even got my first one yet! Jon is just that great to deal with. I also plan on getting any other A2 lowers I need from him.
