First round (pp 75gr match) ever through an expensive upper with 223 match barrel.

Stuck case in chamber.

Round fired fine, bullet went downrange.

Rim seems okay so I didn't photograph it.

Need pic of head of case for more information.

Frosty case walls can occur from lube on the chamber walls.

Not really enough info to dignose over the 'net from those pics, though.

Looks like a rough chamber.

Posta a pic of the case mouth and the base of the case then it would be easier to give an answer

Did the extractor slip over the rim?   You said nothing wrong with the rim.  Take a look at the extractor and see if you can see anything wrong.   ... like does it have one?

back of the rim was chipped a little but that mightve been my attempts to get it out on the muzzle end.

unsure.

Case was not fully re-sized and the carrier drove it into the chamber under force . When it fired it stuck since it was hammered into the chamber and had no room for expansion.

It may be a good idea to test the other ammo from that lot by removing the carrier and hand dropping them into the chamber. This will prevent a cross bolt lock up.

IMHO, you had a gun problem. Should have cleaned the chamber before firing.

You said "223 match barrel" but, you didn't mention the chamber.  Various chambers come with different leade.  And, usually .223 Rem. chambers come with a short leade (when compared against a barrel in 5.56mm).

So, I'm left to wonder:  Does your rifle have enough leade for the 75 gr. bullet?

Could, the long 75 gr. bullet actually have made contact (or got stuck or telescoped somewhat).  The amount of leade is important.   So, say that the cartridge was fired.  Higher pressures would more than likely have resulted.

Frosted cases are sometimes an indication of higher than normal pressures.

And, even IF, the bullet wasn't "stuck"......could the use of that ammo still be the "issue."  As, most .223 Rem. barrels are for lighter bullets and bolt action rifles.

Plus, you do KNOW not to fire 5.56mm through a .223 Rem., RIGHT? REASON being........possible higher (dangeours) pressures.  Again, the "frosted case," pops in my mind.

Just my .02.

Chamber and ammo are supposed to be DRY.

Aloha, Mark

PS.......BUT, if you're saying that you ran the rifle dry (w/o proper lubrication).   Well, there you go.  That's a big contributor.  But, truth be known.  I've done it.  And, my rifle did NOT freeze up on only one round.   Course, YMWV.

New comer here, but with the amount of 5.56 and the amount of brass I have seen I feel I can contribute here.

That appears to be one of 2 things that I have seen:
a) HIGH pressure
b) Chamber issue (either dirt in or a bad chamber from manufacture, which I would also dbl tap on what chamber you have, 223R, Wylde, or 5.56, I would check paperwork and if possible talk to a rep from the barrel manufacturer on your PN)

I have seen this mainly in the FN M16A4's where their barrels are less than ideal quality compared to the Colt.

We generally run into this after 15-20 minutes of firing in a close range scenario.

As for lube in the chamber, dont recommend it, but it can be done with little harm.

LATE EDIT: Also the Carbon Ring that is around the neck would suggest improper fit in the chamber or HIGH pressure.
