My Upper has no forward assist assembly, and I mean there is no provision for it the right hand side is clean, picked it up in Sierre leone last year . Busy with my lower bought an 80 % Lower. my question is is this an AR15 or a M16. The  Cal is .223

Any info would be helpfull

No FA makes it either an M16 or an SP1. Does it have the clearance cuts for the auto sear?

Not as good an indicator as you might think.  My SP1 came w/the clearance cuts for the auto sear.  Oddly enough ,when I acquired a big hole FA type upper off of a later model, it didn't have the cuts.  Go figure.

Obviously, the best indicator is the size of the front mounting hole.  If it's 1/4 inch, it's an M16 piece.  If it's .315 inch it's an SP1.

I never said it was, I was asking if it had the clearance cuts.
