How do the new rifles made by Armalite compare to others like Bushmaster,Colt,DMPS,DoubleStar, Stag ect?
Also if you rated these 6 brands where would they fall number wise? |
| I've shot all the ones mentioned in your list except Stag. You can get a lemon with any of them. There are a lot of people on here who swear by Colt however for me I had a terrible trigger in my Colt Competition heavy barrel and hated how there was no front take down pin but a screw and different lower pin size! There are a few minor differences which really don't effect functioning if the rifle is assembled correctly (buffer tube diameter in stock, Chrome lined Barrels, F marked front sight base, M4 feed ramps, ect). My suggestion is find a rifle from a reputable company with the features you like for a price you think is fair. Buy the rifle and test it enough to make sure if functions. If it doesn't contact the manufacturer. I personally like RRA but have also had good luck with Double Star and DPMS. My department issues Bushmasters, Armalites and Viet Nam era Colt surplus rifles and they are all comparable. The Stag rifles I looked at on the shelf all appeared to be well made and assembled. Its just like buying cars some prefer different brands but they are all transportation. |

thanks for the input. All my AR expeirence has been with colt. The other day I handled a Armalite that I liked very much. The only thing I knew about them is they were one of the first who built AR's This Armalite is not that Armalite. They're good quality, but they are pretenders when it comes to the name. They have nothing to do with the Fairchild Aircraft Co. |

Quoted: They bought the name and were originally Eagle Arms, but they have done a lot to preserve historical information regarding the original Armalite, including buying rare Armalites. Pretender might be a little unfair.Quoted: thanks for the input. All my AR expeirence has been with colt. The other day I handled a Armalite that I liked very much. OK, sorry. Just wanted to let him know that this company is not really one of the first to make ARs. |

Fairchild sold off the Armalite division a long, long time ago. and yes the company has changed hands since then. Eliaphat Remingtons heirs do not own Remington today and Samuel Colts Descendants do not own Colt either . those companies have also changed hands multiple times. For the record I do not drink any ones brand of koolaide. |
