I just bought an Armalite green fiberglass FF handguard on the EE, and I'm trying to figure out how to use it. It looks like a simple 3 piece design - install barrel with barrel nut, screw on handguard as far as it will go while still indexing, and lock in place with outer threaded ring. Only problem is that I can't get the tube off the barrel nut. it's on there really gutentite! Is anyone familiar with this handguard? I suspect that someone tightened the whole mess on the receiver with a strap wrench, in which case I'll need to use both a strap wrench and a FF tube wrench (I have the latter) to get it apart. Sound right?

You got it.  To remove - use a strap wrench to break the outer ring loose... unscrew it - and then the FF tube pulls directly off.

I doubt they tightened the whole mess - thats a lot harder to line up and get the gas ports aligned.... plus the outer ring would break loose if you tried that.

Thanks, FALARAK, I was about to screw it up! The outer lock ring was already loose, but I thought the tube threaded onto the barrel nut. A quick tap with a wood dowel knocked the barrel nut right out. Mission accomplished!
