Hello everyone, I will begin by saying I am a new guy both to the forum and with AR's.I'm kinda on my own learning about the rifles so I thought someone could give some helpful hints to my problem.
I just recently purchased my first AR.It is an Armalite M15, that came with one mag.I shot about 60 rounds through it right after the purchase and it shoots really well.I wanted to buy more mags so I bought 6 brand new Magpul PMAGS.What happens when I fire my first shot is the round fires, does not eject, but then tries to chamber the next round. The spent cartridge is then lodged in the chamber and I have to push it out through the barrel with a rod. This happens with all the PMAGS and not the factory mag.I can load a PMAG, insert into the lower, charge it,then cyle all of the rounds out by hand with no problems.Has anybody ever had this issue or have any ideas what it could be?Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Download the mags by a single round and see if that solves the problem.
And contrary to belief, and mag is full when you still have enough room for 3/4 of a round still left between the top round and the feed lips when the last loaded round is pushed all the way down. |

Insert an empty mag without a follower in the rifle, pull the charging handle back, then ride the charging handle forward.
Here you are looking to confirm that the the mag is not being retained too high in the mag well, and the carrier bottom slots will not clear the mag feed lips. |

Armalite's come with NHMTG mags for a reason, but I personally havent had an issue with pmags I bought an Armalite M15 which is a mid-length carbine and I bought some PMAGs and I haven't had any problems. I bought a few ArmaLite magazines as well but they are NHMTG mags. I have put though 300 rounds without any issues with either PMAGs or NHMTG magazines. |

I tried this and everything clears....and thank you for your suggestions |

Is this a 16" telestock carbine gas system /midlength gas system or fixed stock 20" rifle?
Load the PMAG's up,while holding the mag in one hand(magazine only, not in the rifle),slap the bottom of the mag with your free hand.If a round pops out of the mag there is an issue. Also make sure your magazine catch has proper tension. Also as a note,Armalite installs a CRANE type o-ring under the extractor on all configurations. And I might add its a stiff o-ring too.Personally had ejection issues on a new M15A4 20" SPR due to excessive extractor tension.Im not sure if it was just a case of wrong application(most likely),the composition of the o-ring,or in combination with possible shallow extractor channel. But the extractor tension was great enough to cut into cartridge rim when "clanking" into battery, which also clamped the spent cases to the bolt face delaying ejection greatly dumping the spent cases in the action.Removing the o-ring from under the extractor solve my issue. Might be something to consider. |

What ammo are you using? Have you tried different ammo? Have you cleaned the chamber using a chamber brush and CLP? Is the groove in the extractor formed well and have sharp claw? Remove the BCG from the rifle, take a spent cartridge case and hook it under the extractor claw and work it against the ejector tension flat against the bolt face. Does the cartridge case jump off the extractor? Does the cartridge case and ejector move freely? If you have an H buffer I would run that and see what it does. That said I run an H buffer in my Armalite midlength, especially with 5.56 NATO pressure ammo. |

I just got older gen pmags and I had to shave a small area off in the front to get them to seat. Magpul blames Armalite, but I personally feel the mags become thicker then the magwell before they are out of the magwell so its not the lowers fault. |

We'll I'm a fairly new AR15 owner so all of PMAGs are version M. |
