I'm a  newbie with a dumb question.  On the Armalitw website:
http://www.armalite.com/Categories2.aspx?Category=8e8e5de6-5022-483e-812b-822e58014822

Could somebody tell me the practical difference between the 15A4C (for $1086) and the 15A4CBA2K (for $990)?

As far as I can tell the difference is that the 15A4CBA2K version seems to have a fixed front sight.  Would that be less or more desirable than a complete flat top?  If I want the option of using optics do I need to go with the more expensive 15A4C?

Lastly, do Armalites have milspec buffer tubes and do they use straight or taper pins?

the difference is in the gas system lenght...

the 15A4C uses a Midlenght gas system while the 15A4CBA2K uses a standard Carbine gas system (like the M4 used by .mil)

Buffer tubes are milspec and they use straight pins

You're thinking of the LEC15A4CBK. The 15A4CBA2K is a mid-length, too.
