Hey guys, I'm going to be assembling my very first upper soon and I just want to make sure I have everything. I'm not so much worried about tools, just actual hard parts. I'm going to be putting a DD Lite on it, so will I need anything extra for barrel assembly? I've got the gas block and tube, so I'm assuming I wont need anything else? The DD Lite comes with its own barrel nut, forgoing the standard parts you'd find under the delta ring assembly, yes?

Muzzle device?

Make sure you have the gas tube roll pin.

Not so much worried about tools because you already have them?  You need at least some way to hold stuff in place while you attach the barrel nut (GI or aftermarket) to the upper, some way of catching that nut and turning it with appropriate force, and some way of measuring how much torque you apply.  That means either an upper receiver fixture (I use a DPMS PantherClaw) or good barrel vise jaws (use leather or old rubber hose to get a good grip on the barrel), you need the right wrench for the barrel nut you'll be using (I think DD uses a special one), and a torque wrench.  My torque wrench came from Harbor Freight-sure it ain't stellar, but it's more than accurate enough for this application and it was affordable.

If you're getting a full kit, the rail should come with all the hardware you need.  I don't know if Daniel Defense provides one, but having a full parts list is a Very Good Thing; it helps you inventory and select the correct part for each step in the process.

This ^^^ is what I forgot on my build.

Searched and found lots of post saying to get a 5/64 x 5/16 roll pin. Couldn't find one in 5/16 locally so I got a small bag of 5/64 x 3/8. It worked and now I have spares.

You do have the DD spanner wrench for the barrel nut don't you? It takes a special spanner since it's not a standard nut.

I don't have the tools, but I understand what tools I need. I just need a parts list like you said. Basically I want to know what parts I'd need for an upper build with these parts:

Standard flattop upper
YHM Diamond Fluted Barrel
YHM Low pro gas block (have tube and roll pin)
DD Lite rail
Vortex FH

I just want to make sure theres nothing I'm missing as far as the barrel nut goes, really. As long as the DD Lite comes with everything for their proprietary nut, I shouldn't need any parts from the standard USGI delta ring barrel nut assembly, should I?

Never seize or whatever grease stuff you decide to use.

No additional barrel assy parts needed.

I am doing about the same as you but now have everything ready to go...just need a vice since the one I was going to use is not usable right now. What I did was to lay out all the parts and put them together without tighting anything. This helped me make sure everything fit and I had all needed parts before trying to put it togther and discovering I forgot something or had the wrong size of something. Based upon your list it seems you have everything.

The rail kit comes with everything you need EXCEPT the spanner wrench. It is sold separately and you will have to get one.

Yup, you need the DD wrench to assemble the DD light rail - it DOES NOT come with the rail.  You also need a torque wrench so you can torque the nut to spec.  Don't panic when you realize the mounting plate spins freely after tightening the barrel nut.  It locks down when you tighten the cap screws.

Make sure you install the ejection port cover before you put the barrel on your upper. You won't be able to get it on without taking the barrel off again, if you don't.
